Guildhall School postgraduate singers and pianists perform songs by the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo as a tribute on the 20th anniversary of his passing. Concert curated by Ricardo Gosalbo and supported by the Instituto Cervantes London. The beginnings of recorded music in Spain This lecture-recital will cover, through both historical recordings and live performance, the beginnings (1896-1914) of commercial recorded music in Spain, both in the hands of multinationals such as Gramophone and Victor, and small-scale local businesses (the so-called 'gabinetes fonográficos') which recorded on wax cylinders.
