DESCRIPTION:The beginnings of recorded music in Spain \nThis lecture-recital will cover\, through both historical recordings and live performance\, the beginnings (1896-1914) of commercial recorded music in Spain\, both in the hands of multinationals such as Gramophone and Victor\, and small-scale local businesses (the so-called ‘gabinetes fonográficos’) which recorded on wax cylinders. Particular attention will be paid to the first Spanish opera and zarzuela singers to record for the phonograph and gramophone; their names are scarcely known nowadays (Josefina Huguet\, Pepita Alcácer\, Marina Gurina\, Anita Lopeteghi\, Amalia Campos\, etc.)\, but their voices open up a fascinating window on the singing techniques and repertoires that Spaniards were familiar with around 1900. \nLos inicios de la fonografía en España \nEsta conferencia-concierto explorará\, a través de grabaciones históricas y música en directo\, los inicios (1896-1914) de la fonografía comercial en España\, tanto a manos de multinacionales como Gramophone y Victor como de pequeños negocios locales conocidos como “gabinetes fonográficos” que grababan en cilindros de cera.
